Al Jazeera has asked whether a halal pension could be helping to fund Israel's military.

According to Al Jazeera, a fund from HSBC carrying a "sharia-compliant" label put more than $100 million into companies that have links to the Israeli military.

The question is aimed at savers who choose halal-labelled pensions, since the label is meant to signal that an investment fits Islamic principles. Al Jazeera's report points to the HSBC fund as an example of money from such a product reaching firms tied to Israel's armed forces.

The amount cited is given in dollars, as Al Jazeera states it.
