The Philippine foreign ministry summoned China's ambassador on Monday over remarks it said conveyed a threat of the use of force, according to The Straits Times. The ministry said it wanted to express its "serious concern and strong objection" about the envoy's comments.

CNA reported that the ambassador said last week that Beijing would "easily win" a conflict between the two countries, which led to calls for his expulsion.
