MRL expects ECRL-LRT Gombak pedestrian bridge to be completed by March 2027
A temporary walkway through Prasarana facilities will link the two Gombak stations when ECRL services begin in December, MRL said.
Passengers will get a temporary walkway between the ECRL Gombak station and the Gombak LRT station when ECRL services begin in December, according to Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL). The walkway will run through facilities belonging to Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), and will be in place while the permanent bridge is still being built.
MRL expects the covered pedestrian bridge, which will link the two stations directly, to be finished in March 2027.
Temporary route and possible shuttle
MRL said the temporary route will consider safety, comfort and ease of movement, including for passengers with luggage. It is also talking with Prasarana about a shuttle service between the two stations, an extra facility aimed specifically at passengers carrying luggage.
MRL said the temporary access arrangements are being handled to meet passenger needs when the ECRL service opens, while the permanent bridge is completed in stages.
Planned from the start
MRL said in a statement that joining up public transport and pedestrian access at the ECRL Gombak Integrated Terminal (TBG) station has been considered since the early planning of the rail project. The statement said: "This plan also includes a pedestrian bridge connection to TBG."
MRL described the pedestrian access as part of efforts to make the Gombak ECRL station a public transport hub connected to the existing rail and transport network.
MRL said it appreciates the attention, views and feedback from the public, and will keep working with relevant parties so the facilities are "safe, practical and user-friendly."
